Use of Trusted Paper Key
What is a Trusted Paper Key?
A Trusted Paper Key (TPK) is a printable version of a cryptographic key in the form of a two-dimensional barcode. This complex barcode can be converted by a computer into a digital version of the cryptographic key that is used to decode your data.

Where can the TPK be stored?
It is impossible to access your files without your key. If you have lost your key, Safeberg will not be able to help you. We recommend printing the key multiple times and storing it in a safe place, such as:
- In a safe
- At the bank
- With friends or family (a combination of your key and your Safeberg password are required to access your files)
How to use the TPK?
Your TPK can be uploaded into the system by using a simple picture or scan of the printed key.
The restoration application will then automatically translate the TPK and use it to decipher your data and restore it on your computer.
